Coach Boyack

Steve Boyack - Head Junior Varsity Coach
Coach Boyack comes to us after an extended coaching stint in Las Vegas.  He and his wife, Dana, graduated from Spanish Fork where he participated in basketball, baseball, football and track and was selected his high school’s “Outstanding Athlete.” They moved to Vegas in 1980, with the intent of staying for 2 years.  Those 2 years quickly turned into 32 years of coaching basketball, baseball and football; while his wife was running two large dance studios and raising 5 kids.  Boyack served as the head basketball coach at Cimarron-Memorial High School (enrollment 2800) and Bonanza High School (enrollment 2700) and the head baseball coach at Rancho High School (enrollment 2500) and also at Bonanza.  He coached football for 15 years, serving as a varsity defensive coordinator and a head JV coach.  Coach Boyack currently serves as our Head Bruin Baseball coach and teaches College Prep Math and Algebra.  Dana is a dance instructor and drill team advisor at AFHS.
Coach Boyack’s teams played in the very-tough Northwest Division in Las Vegas.  He was selected as Northwest Coach of the Year and Sunset Region Coach of the Year.  His team won the Northwest title in 2007 and is the 2010 Champions of the Bradshaw Mountain Holiday Classic in Arizona.   He has coached in 2 state basketball title games and 4 state baseball title games.  He was selected to coach numerous Vegas HS All-Star teams that played in major national tournaments and has served as President of the Southern Nevada Basketball Coaches Association.  Coach Boyack brought many basketball teams to Orem for the UVU Team Basketball Camp to give his players the opportunity to compete against the tough Utah High Schools.   He coached Greg Anthony (UNLV, NY Knicks, ESPN), Jamal Willis (BYU, SF 49’ers), Kevin Olekaibe (Fresno State) and Ron Harper, the father of overall MLB #1 draft pick, Bryce Harper.
He and his wife are excited to be at Mountain View and to be a part of the Bruin Family.  Steve and Dana have 5 children and 6 grandSONS (isn’t that a basketball team with a sub!) Son, Tyler, 12, loves the Bruins and can’t wait to play here!  The Boyack’s say they have received a very warm welcome from students, players, parents, collegues and the community and would like to thank everyone for their kindness!
